I prefer to let the music do the talking but here are a few things to paint a bit of a picture about myself:
- I'm a musical explorer, a purveyor of exotic guitar-based frequencies, an organic composer of poly-rhythmic rituals... but most of all I'm just a beginner. Being a beginner keeps everyday fresh as the journey into music is deep, mysterious, and one of constant learning.
- I've recorded and performed with such inspirational musicians as Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai), Marco Minnemann, Bumblefoot (Guns N' Roses), Bryan Beller (Steve Vai), Andy Edwards (Robert Plant, IQ) and Lalle Larsson (Karmakanic, Agents of Mercy).
- I've been blessed with amazing parents - my mother is french and my father an indian professor of pediatrics and sufi poet with a love of Rumi. I grew up in (old) South Wales feeling inherently displaced.
- By the age of 7 my favourite subject was ufology. It was always a major disappointment that they never explored such things at school.
- I only just barely survived the school system with my sense of purpose and creativity intact. Music helped keep a crack in the door open.
- One september night in Vienna 1992, while attending the American Institute of Music, I met Melusine.
- I'd love to someday read the book of G'Quan.
- My debut album "Worlds Beyond Cause" has what seems to be an EVP (recorded ghost) happening at 2:45 on track 4.
- Lydian augmented sounds really sexy to me.
- My favourite guitar is a 1988 Ibanez RG550 with an extended custom cutaway.
- In search of artistic inspiration I once spent the night "alone" in West Kennet long barrow and had an exchange of information with the residents.
- I have a passion for glockenspiels, cherimoya, Pachamama and 5 rhythms dance.
- Guitarists that continue to inspire include Shawn Lane, Jeff Beck, George Harrison, Ali Farka Toure, Ry Cooder, Derek Trucks, Allan Holdsworth, Bob Brozman, John McLaughlin, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai on the "Flex-Able" album.
- Playing music is my constant reminder to get out of the way and surrender to the moment. Music for me is a path of great healing.
